The Figurative Archive focuses on the broader exchanges between geography and geometry that have shaped New Orleans and the broader Mississippi River Basin. The work traces how the agricultural / plantation system served as an underlay for the city’s current urban mesh. Operating as a nested system, the larger plantation geometries where consistently divided to accommodate the extension of the French Quarter’s colonial grid.

El Archivo de figuras investiga diversos intercambios entre geografía y geometría que han dado forma a Nueva Orleans y el valle deltaico del Río Mississippi. El trabajo documenta como geometrías agrícolas sirvieron como base para la evolución de la grilla urbana de la ciudad. Las diversas plantaciones fueron fragmentadas para acomodar diversos “faubourgs” en las zonas adjuntas al barrio Frances.
