The “Floresta apartments” is a 16 unit residential complex that occupies a residual site on the northeastern edge of the city of Quito (Ecuador), overlooking the Guapulo valley. Conceived as an “L” shape in plan, the building is sighted on the two edges adjacent to the streets capitalizing on the stronger soil within the site and defining a clear urban edge. The ground level is defined by a courtyard containing a swimming pool that cantilevers towards the abyss, and encloses a sunken garden that brings light to the underground parking. The units, varying in size from 160m2 to 240m2 are organized as thin linear strips punctuated by generous terraces that separate the bedrooms from the living and dinning areas.

El complejo residencial “Floresta” contiene 16 unidades de vivienda y se asienta en una parcela residual en el borde noreste de la ciudad de Quito (Ecuador), con una gran vista al valle de Guapulo. La implantación del proyecto, concebida en forma de “L” se ancla en la esquina sureste de la parcela sacando provecho de la zona mas plana del terreno y definiendo un frente urbano. La planta baja contiene un patio con el área recreativa y enmarca un jardín húmedo que provee de luz a los parqueos subterráneos. Las unidades, que varían en metraje desde 160m2 hasta 240m2 son unas bandas anchas que aprovechan la vista al valle. Grandes espacios de terraza separan las áreas sociales de los dormitorios.
